Choose the polycarbonate application guide that matches the job your panel must do. A rooflight, greenhouse cover, machine guard and battery component may all use PC, but they are approved against different conditions. Start with the operating environment below; each guide then points to the relevant panel or fabrication option and the information needed for a written quotation.

Buildings and outdoor covers

• Roofing and rooflights — start with the roof assembly, support layout, weather exposure and water path.
• Carports and canopies — consider clearance, frame geometry, overhead exposure and the desired daylight.
• Greenhouses — balance crop light, condensation control, climate and panel orientation.
• Curtain walls and facades — treat the panel, frame, movement joints and project fire criteria as one assembly.
• Protective and secondary glazing — define the impact case, opening and frame before selecting a sheet.

Industrial and technical uses

• Machine guarding — identify the actual hazard, guard geometry, exposure to coolants and approval responsibility.
• Energy-storage parts — begin with the component drawing and the electrical, thermal and fire requirements of the final assembly.
• Sound barriers — specify the installed panel support, weather exposure and acoustic test basis requested by the project.

Lighting and interior use

• Lighting and signage — set the target light distribution, colour, fixture geometry and viewing distance.
• Interior partitions and screens — decide whether clear sightlines, diffusion, privacy, cleaning or surface finish matters most.

When your project fits more than one guide

A greenhouse roof may need both daylight and condensation guidance; a transparent machine enclosure may need optical clarity and a documented guard design. Choose the guide for the failure or acceptance condition that will decide the project, then follow its links to the suitable PC product family. If you do not yet know the grade, send the application and drawing rather than guessing from a thickness chart.

• If weather, impact, heat or electrical exposure could cause failure, state that condition first, even if appearance also matters.
• If the panel belongs to a larger roof, enclosure, machine or building assembly, identify who approves the installed system.
• If two guides apply, use one as the primary decision path and include the second condition in the same enquiry; it does not require two separate quotes.
