Machine Guarding Polycarbonate

Machine guard PC panels: assess hazard energy, frame capture, chemicals and assembly evidence before choosing thickness.

A machine window can be a viewing panel, a splash barrier or part of a fragment-containment guard. These are different safety duties. The equipment manufacturer or integrator must define the hazard and approve the complete panel-and-frame assembly before thickness is chosen.

Input Question it answers
Machine and operating mode Is the panel for viewing, splash control or containment?
Potential released object What mass, speed and trajectory must the assembly address?
Opening and frame drawing How is the panel captured, fixed and supported at the edges?
Coolant and cleaning agents Which chemical-compatibility evidence is relevant?
Required safety test Does available evidence cover the grade, thickness and assembly?

A thickness list cannot substitute for the relevant machine standard or assembly test. A supplier report on sheet material alone does not certify an installed guard. Ask sales for report originals applicable to the quoted PC grade and thickness, then have the integrator review containment and mounting.

Service and fabrication details

Describe the coolants, cleaners, abrasion and UV exposure expected during service. Set inspection and replacement criteria through the machine risk assessment; do not use a universal replacement interval. If fire or ESD is a design requirement, state the relevant test and use the flame-retardant or ESD grade page to start material selection.

SinoPlastix has 22 CNC machines. Send a drawing with hole positions, edge distances, finish and tolerances for a finished-part quotation. The machine integrator must verify fit, interlocks and the installed safety function.

Machine-guard RFQ

Provide machine model, hazard assessment or required standard, potential projectile information, frame and part drawings, chemical exposure, PC grade, quantity and destination. The written quotation confirms fabrication scope, applicable report request, price and schedule. For general solid sheet options see solid PC.

Questions buyers ask

How thick should a machine guard be?

Thickness follows the machine hazard assessment and the tested panel-and-frame assembly. Send potential projectile mass and velocity, opening, support detail and required standard; the machine integrator approves the guard design.

Can 3 mm PC be used as a machine window?

It may be considered for a viewing or splash barrier if the hazard assessment permits it. A 3 mm label alone does not establish fragment containment; review the complete panel and frame against the actual hazard.

Why might a guard become cloudy or crack?

Coolant, cleaner, abrasion, stress and ageing can each affect a guard. Identify the exposure and inspect any hazy or cracked panel under the machine safety procedure; a visible defect warrants assessment rather than an assumed remaining impact rating.

Can you supply guards cut and drilled to drawing?

Yes, SinoPlastix has 22 CNC machines and can quote custom PC parts. Send DXF, DWG or STEP, grade, dimensions, holes, edge detail and acceptance tolerance; the written quote confirms the finished-part scope, while the integrator verifies fit and guarding performance.
