Hard Coated Polycarbonate Sheet

Abrasion-resistant surface for panels that get cleaned, touched and handled every day.

Hard-coated polycarbonate for clear panels that are touched or cleaned often. A specified abrasion-resistant surface helps a machine window, public screen or display cover stay easier to see after routine handling. Choose the coating face, cleaner and finished-part process at the same time as the sheet.

Send the panel size or drawing, thickness, quantity, cleaning chemical and surface-wear requirement. We can quote a coated sheet or CNC-finished part and arrange a sample for a practical cleaning trial.

Choose the coated construction

1

One or both faces

Coat the exposed face for a fixed-view panel, or ask for both faces when people clean or handle either side. Mark the outward and cleaning faces on the drawing.

2

Sheet and finish

The corresponding hard-coated product route lists 1.5–15 mm sheet thickness. State clear or tinted appearance, UV exposure and any anti-fog requirement for the exact configuration.

3

Cut or formed part

Send holes, edges, bend/forming geometry and critical clear zones. The coating and fabrication sequence must suit the selected grade and finished drawing.

These are product-route choices, not a stock guarantee. The written quote confirms coated faces, grade, dimensions, fabrication, inspection, price and production time for the custom order.

Reference coating data for comparison

The values below come from one tested hard-coated PC line and are useful for early comparison. They do not guarantee that every thickness, tint, coating chemistry or finished part gives the same result. Ask sales for the original report covering the grade and test conditions offered to your project.

Light transmission

89.0% for a 5 mm coated sample under ISO 13468-1.

Pencil hardness

H–3H under ASTM D3363 with a 750 g pencil load.

Taber · 100 revolutions

0.14% change in haze under ASTM D1044, CS-10F wheel and 500 g load.

Taber · 500 revolutions

3.30% change in haze under ASTM D1044, CS-10F wheel and 500 g load.

Compare like with like: the same coated face, abrasion wheel, load, cycle count, specimen preparation and haze method. A pencil grade alone does not describe how the panel will look after thousands of cleaning passes.

Where a hard coat pays for itself

Machine view panel

Frequent wiping, dust or coolant can make scratches more visible. Send the cleaner, impact case and guard drawing; evaluate the whole mounted system separately.

Public-facing screen

Specify the exposed face, expected contact and acceptable visible wear. Approve a sample after the cleaning routine you will actually use.

Display or vehicle part

Specify visual zones, bends, holes and edge finish before production. Confirm that the chosen coating can follow the required fabrication route.

Coated sheet or another material?

For an exposed transparent panel where impact handling matters, a hard-coated PC grade can be a practical starting point. If surface appearance leads and impact exposure is low, compare acrylic sheet. For a panel with only occasional handling, uncoated clear PC may be the simpler specification. Choose using the actual cleaner, wear target, impact case and sample rather than a generic “scratchproof” claim.

Send the details that determine a useful quote

  1. Sheet size or finished drawing, thickness, quantity and destination.
  2. Coated face(s), viewed face, cleaning chemicals and expected contact.
  3. Required abrasion or optical method, acceptance limit and report original.
  4. UV exposure, tint, anti-fog needs, holes, edges and forming.

SinoPlastix operates seven extrusion lines and 22 CNC machines. Common test-report originals can be requested privately from sales. The quoted grade and fabrication route determine actual price and lead time; published figures elsewhere are average planning references.

Questions buyers ask

How much better does a hard coat resist abrasion?

A tested coated grade in this product line showed 0.14% haze change after 100 Taber revolutions under ASTM D1044 with a CS-10F wheel and 500 g load. Use a report and cleaning trial for the exact grade and exposure you intend to buy.

Can I specify one coated face?

Yes. Mark the coated and exposed face on the drawing or panel schedule. Ask for face identification and check the sample before production.

Will the coating change transparency or chemical compatibility?

One 5 mm coated sample in the supplied line measured 89.0% light transmission under ISO 13468-1. Transmission and cleaner compatibility must be checked for the offered grade, thickness and coating system; send the chemical name and cleaning method with your enquiry.
