Acrylic Sheet Fabrication
Choose cast or extruded PMMA, then specify the cut, formed and finished part.
Machined PMMA features, edge finish and material-compatible laser options.
Acrylic CNC machining is for PMMA parts with drawing-defined profiles, holes, slots, pockets or finished edges. SinoPlastix uses its Jiangsu sheet-fabrication workshop to review the material and the part together. This page focuses on the machined-feature and inspection route; see acrylic fabrication for forming and wider assembly preparation.

State the actual sheet grade in the drawing. Cast acrylic is often selected where routing, engraving and a polished visible edge matter; extruded acrylic may be preferred for other stock or forming requirements. The grade changes chip formation, heat sensitivity and stress behaviour. Do not approve a cutter path, speed or edge appearance from the material name alone: a representative sample and the approved drawing decide the process.
CNC routing can produce outlines, holes, slots, pockets, chamfers and countersinks. Tool diameter sets a minimum internal radius, while edge distance and clamping affect crack risk. Protective film should be specified by face; visible edges may need a separately priced polish. Laser cutting or marking can be considered for compatible acrylic grade, thickness, film and edge requirement, but laser kerf and heat effects differ from a CNC toolpath. The process comparison explains why laser is not the default for polycarbonate.
SinoPlastix reports CNC capability that can reach ±0.1 mm after drawing review. It is not an automatic tolerance on every acrylic edge, hole, long panel or polished surface. Identify each critical dimension and its measurement conditions; the quotation and approved drawing must state the achievable value. Agree a first article and inspection record before quantity production, especially where parts fit hardware or another component.
Submit DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES or a dimensioned PDF with drawing revision, PMMA grade and thickness, quantity, finish, visible faces, critical dimensions, packing and destination. Request material/batch documents or a named-standard test report only where the report’s scope is applicable to the material supplied. The quality page describes traceability and document requests.
